I’ve been playing tuba for over 15 years now. I started in eighth grade, and for the first few years I was a perfect example of the quarter-note-quarter-rest type of tuba player that most people think of. Later in high school I started to enjoy it more so I started taking it more seriously, and it became something that I’ll be do for the rest of my life. Some of the highlights of my tuba career are:
1997 Missouri All-State Band, 5th chair.
1997-2001 Member of Missouri Western Symphonic Winds
2000 Solo performance of “From the Shores of the Mighty Pacific” with full band accompaniment, MWSU
2003-2005 Member of the Lawrence City Band
2003-2006 Member of the Bonner Springs City Band
I still play occassionally when I can (like in the Olathe City Band), but since it’s a hobby it has to take a backseat to family and work. I have a number of recordings that I’d love to offer here, including a great seven-minute recording of my “From the Shores of the Mighty Pacific” solo performance, but I’m not sure how how to secure the rights to offer the download. If I find out that it’s acceptable, I’ll publish them here.
